MenuDrive Setup

  • Dinerware menu tool pulls down POS ID's for all items and attached mods

General Notes

Order Types and Sections 
Dinerware does not use specific Order Types. However, orders can be placed into different Sections. MenuDrive sends orders with a label that identifies the Order Type and, in a future release, will place online orders into Online Pickup and Online Delivery Sections. 

Modifiers
Pizza/Custom matrix is supported only for menus with individual group/ID's for each portion (e.g. whole, right, left, none, extra, 1st half, 2nd half, etc.)

Qty. Sign Modifiers
This feature is not available in the beta release of the Dinerware integration, however is planned for inclusion in a future release.

ACP Custom Settings

Discounts
Dinerware supports discounts applied to a whole order or to an item within an order. MenuDrive is currently implementing whole order discounts only. Discounts do not require any ID entry in the MenuDrive POS settings window, however MenuDrive's coupon name must match Dinerware's coupon/discount name. These can be found by clicking the "Setup My POS" button in the POS settings page. Discounts can be set up as an amount or percentage. Open discounts (POS will take any amount) are not supported at this time. 

Delivery Charges
The delivery charge item ID is created on the Dinerware POS during the Setup My POS process from the ACP. Delivery charge does not require any ID entry on the MenuDrive side and Dinerware can be set up to accept any delivery charge amount for an order. Delivery address details are sent as item notes with the delivery charge item.

Custom Charges
This feature is not available in the beta release of the Dinerware integration, however is planned for inclusion in a future release.

CC Payments
Credit Card payments are sent to the POS as a pre-paid Online Ordering tender type. The credit card type (Visa, MasterCard, etc.) is sent as a label attached to the payment details. 

Custom Payments
Custom payments are sent to the POS as a pre-paid Online Ordering tender type. The Custom Payment name is sent as a label attached to the payment details. 

Item Special Instructions
Item Special Instructions are sent as text field with the item. No character setting is required.

Test Mode
Test mode is not supported at this time.

Customers
Customers are created, referenced and updated at the Dinerware POS by email address. All orders are sent with an address entry. The address is labelled as "webDeliver" or "webPickup". For pickup orders only the email, name and phone number is included. If a previous "webPickup" or "webDelivery" address exists for a customer in the POS, MenuDrive will attempt to update this entry with any new info.

ASAP orders
ASAP orders will print immediately at the POS.

Advance orders
Currently, only same day Advance orders are supported. Advance orders will print at the correct time offset (due time minus prep/delivery time) set in the MenuDrive ACP. Advance orders include a due time item labelled as "Advance Order". The order due time is specified in the item notes.

Order Notes
Order Notes are sent as an item labelled "Order Notes". Included are details for Curbside and Dine-In orders (when applicable).

Order Printing/Hold and Fire
ASAP orders will print immediately. Advance orders (within a 24 hour window) will print at the correct time offset set in the MenuDrive ACP.

General Printing
All Online Ordering items (i.e. Delivery Charge, Order Notes, Advance Order) will need to be assigned to a printer at the POS to have these items and their notes print on receipts or prep tickets.


Current Issues and Limitations

Quantity Sign Modifiers
Qty sign modifiers are technically supported by the Dinerware API but have not worked successfully during testing. We will be working with Dinerware to implement this feature.

Custom Charges
Custom charges were not included in the beta release but are planned for inclusion in a future release.

Online Pickup and Delivery Sections
The API call used to create Online Pickup and Delivery sections using the ACP "Setup My POS" script is not working. Currently, all orders are being sent with a default Section ID of "0". We will be working with Dinerware to implement this feature in a future release.

Future Day Ordering
Currently, Dinerware supports Hold and Fire printing for orders due within a 24 hour window of when they were placed. We will be working with Dinerware to expand this window.
